Emergency Information

Floods are a natural and inevitable occurrence along the rivers of our country. In the northwest, winter flooding is dominated by heavy precipitation events, while spring flood events result from snowmelt, augmented by precipitation.

Be informed about emergency response in King, Pierce and Snohomish counties with Regional Public Information Network (RPIN.org).

Real-time river gauge data, maps, alert phases, and recent high flows.  A recorded flood-information hotline is updated hourly: 206-296-8200 or 1-800-945-9263.  For help interpreting flood information, citizens should call 206-296-4535 or 1-800-768-7932.

  Tolt River Gauge near Carnation

The Tolt River stream gauge TOLW1, USGS Site 12148500, is located 5.5 miles northeast of Carnation, at river mile 8.7; on the right bank, 500 feet downstream from North and South forks, and 0.4 mile upstream from Stossel Creek. The drainage area for this gauge is 81.4 mi2. Elevation of the gauge is 348 feet above NGVD of 1929, from river profile survey.   Snoqualmie River gauge near Carnation

The Snoqualmie River gauge CRNW1, USGS Site 12149000,  is located 1.3 miles northwest of Carnation, 1.9 miles downstream from Tolt River, at river mile 23.0, on the left bank. Drainage area for this gauge is 603 mi2. Datum of gage is NGVD of 1929. Complete USGS gauge information can be seen at http://waterdata.usgs.gov/wa/nwis/uv/?site_no=12149000
Note: The flood phases of the Snoqualmie River are based on the sum of flow for the North, Middle and South forks. The gauge at the Sum of the Forks is near Snoqualmie, about 10 miles upstream from the gauge near Carnation.

  Sandbag Information

The King County Flood Control District has provided a supply of sand and sandbags at the City's Public Works Maintenance Shop, located at 33100 NE 45th Street. These sandbag supplies are limited, and available on a first-come first-serve basis following a declared flood warning announcement.  There is a 50 bag limit per household.  Sand and sandbag supplies can also be purchased at some home improvement stores.
